Saturday, March 23 - BBQ Fundraiser at the Chatfield Volunteer Fire Department at 6 pm. They will be selling BBQ sandwiches, chips, and drinks. Donations are welcomed. Buy raffle tickets for a 9 mm Taurus G3C pistol with 3 mags. All are welcome.


Saturday, March 23 - Easter In The Park in downtown Dawson from 11 am to 3 pm. Easter Egg Hunt from 11 am to 12 pm, plus balloon animals, a vendor market, and a car show. Presented by Dawg Days of Dawson.


Saturday, March 30 - Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., Corsicana, from 11 am to 1 pm. The Easter Bunny will be there. Prizes will be awarded for golden eggs, and there will be a coloring contest. Bring your baskets and hop on over!


Monday, April 8 - Corsicana and Navarro County will be in the direct path of the Solar Eclipse for about 4 minutes 10 seconds of totality. Corsicana's Total Eclipse Fest will include food trucks, face painters, live music, special eclipse merch and complimentary eclipse glasses. The Eclipse Fest will take place on Saturday, April 6. Visit www.corsicanaeclipse.com for details of events taking place March 14 through April 8. All Business Owners should prepare for a huge opportunity for sales and promotions. It is anticipated that people will stock up on groceries, fill gas tanks, get prescriptions, and run all necessary errands several days ahead of the event. Every restaurant and business should prepare like it is Christmas Eve during the weekend preceding the eclipse. It is essential to purchase eclipse glasses only from trusted sources. Please ensure the protection of your loved ones, including children who may not be aware, by helping them safeguard their eyesight. The Corsicana Visitors Center is offering three free eclipse glasses to each household in Corsicana while supplies last and they are open Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm, and some Saturdays 10 am to 3 pm.


Saturday, April 13 - Fundrasier for Jared Weaver (The Real Ironman) at The Ranch Saloon, 5075 S. McKinney St., Rice. Cornhole Tournament at 11 am, live music all day, 20-item drawing at 6 pm, live auction, silent auction, BBQ plates $12. Saturday, April 13 - Kris Matthews Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser at 700 E. Main, Richland. Cornhole Tournament, warm up at 1 pm, bags fly at 2 pm. Plaques will be awarded for winners. Live music by Triple Nickel Band from 7 to 11 pm. Silent auction all day, live auction will be held during band breaks. All proceeds go to the scholarship fund for a Dawson graduate planning to attend a trade school, law enforcement program, or first responders program. Friday, April 19 - Shred Day presented by Heart of Texas Shred at the Corsicana Chamber of Commerce office, 120 N. Commerce St. from 10 am to 2 pm.


Saturday, April 27 - Derrick Days in downtown Corsicana. Come celebrate Corsicana's rich oil history with a hotdog lunch, a sip & stroll, a block party, 5K+ Fun Run, food trucks, market vendors, a car show, live music, a pet adoption, a chili cookoff, a foam party, a carnival, tournaments, and much more. Fun for the entire family.


Saturday, April 27 - Foam Party in Pocket Park, 118 N. Beaton Street, from 12 to 3 pm. Fun for all ages. Presented by the Corsicana Parks and Recreation Department.

Snowday Snuggles through the month of February. Temporary foster homes for dogs are needed. Please consider helping these dogs through the winter by getting them out of outdoor kennels and into your warm home. All supplies are provided, including kennels and dog food. First Baptist Church of Eureka Womens Ministry is hosting the Eureka Vendor Market on the 4th Saturday of each month from 9:30 am to 3 pm at 8718 S. Highway 287, Eureka (about 10 minutes south of Corsicana on 287). We plan to host this event through the warmer months of the year in support of our womens conference held yearly in June. We would like to invite the community to come out and enjoy the unique vendors, food, and fun, while supporting local small businesses, women owned businesses, & more, in a family oriented atmosphere. Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to deliver meals to our senior neighbors, stop and enjoy a short friendly visit, and observe to ensure the senior is doing well. Most routes take less than an hour. You choose how often you volunteer: once a week, a month, or just on occasion. You'll need your own transportation, a valid drivers license, car insurance, a working mobile phone, and pass a background check. Mimosas at the Market is held from 10 am to 3 pm the second Saturday of each month. This event attracts locals and tourists from all over Texas to stroll our historic streets, sip on refreshing complimentary mimosas, and enjoy downtown shopping for everyone. HOPE TO GO FOOD PANTRY, a partner agency of the North Texas Food Bank, is now in operation. Navarro County residents may receive free food in emergency situations without qualifying based on income. The office is open from 9 am to 4 pm Tuesday through Thursday at Mildred Baptist Church at 5502 S. Hwy 287, directly across from the Mildred schools. Regular Distribution schedule: First and Third weeks of the month, Tuesday: 5 pm to 6:30 pm, Saturday: 10 am to 11:30 am. Contact information: hopetogo@discovermildred.org or 903-303-2402.


The Northside Baptist Church Care Center, 2900 N. Beaton, invites those who are hungry and in need of assistance to come by for help. They are open Monday and Wednesday 9-3 and Friday 9-12.


Compassion Corsicana is located at 517 N Commerce Street, across from Salvation Army. They offer nutritious food to residents who meet the income requirements. They partner with the North Texas Food Bank and several local stores and community members to provide nutritious food for those in need. Residents may visit the pantry once per month for groceries, and weekly for produce. All you need is an ID or bill showing you live in Navarro Co. They are open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 am to 3 pm (closed from 12 to 1 pm), and on Tuesdays from 1 to 4 pm. For more information, call (903) 874-4971.


The American Legion, 632 N. Beaton, Corsicana, holds member meetings on the 2nd Mondays at 5:30 pm. Honorably discharged Vets are invited to attend and join.

The Dawson Food Pantry needs donations, both non perishable food and monetary. They are open the 3rd Friday of the month from 9-12. If you have an unserviceable US, state, M.I.A., or military flag, bring it to the American Legion, 632 N. Beaton St. If the post is closed, you can place the flag in a plastic bag and hang it on the front door. After 2 pm daily, bring it inside. If you can not afford a new US flag, the American Legion will replace your unserviceable US flag with a new US Flag. They only can only exchange the US flag, but can accept any unserviceable flag for proper retirement. For more information, call the Legion at 903-874-3938 after 2 pm daily.


Honor Flight DFW is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that is committed to flying veterans, at no cost to the veteran, round trip to Washington, DC with a one night stay, to see the WW II Memorial and other monuments in the Washington area. They will fly any veteran of a War era since WW II, but priority is for WW II and terminally ill veterans. They have a "guardian" assigned to each veteran to assist him or her during the trip and a volunteer medical staff for each flight. Honor Flight DFW pays for the cost for the veteran and all others pay their own expenses. For more information about this organization and flight schedules, visit www.honorflightdfw.org. This is one way for us to honor our veterans while we still have them around.

You do not have to give your name. You will be given a number and that is the only way Crime Stoppers can identify you.


Angus Crime Watch meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month at the Angus Government Center.


Grandparents Raising Grandkids Support Group will meet at FBC Eureka at 8718 S Hwy 287 Eureka Tx the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The purpose of this group is to provide support, and encouragement, as well as offer helpful and informative information with occasional speakers coming in. Please let us know if you will need to bring children with you so our child care volunteer can be prepared. The Corsicana Animal Shelter is in need of dog food, such as Pedigree (adult and small breed), Kibbles N Bits Original Flavor (adult and small breed, small bites), and Purina Smart Blend dog food. Donations can be dropped off at the shelter during regular operating hours: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 12 to 6 pm, and on Saturdays from 12 until 4 pm.

Have an old cell phone or phones cluttering up their home? The Angels of Corsicana Troop Support has the answer. Just bring those old phones by their office on Bus. 45 across from the old hat factory any morning from 9-11 M-F or drop them off at Corley Funeral Home. The phones will be bundled and forwarded them to a company that refurbishes them and sends then to the troops to use.
