Saturday, April 27 - Derrick Days Street Games begin at 10 am in downtown Corsicana between 12th and Main streets. Entry fee for each 5-member team, which must include at least one member of the opposite sex, is $50. Points will be awarded for each event. The top three teams will win cash prizes and bragging rights. Events include a bed race, high heel race, hop ball bounce race, tractor pull, hot wing competition, tractor tire twirl, arm wrestling, and tug-of-war. All supplies will be furnished, or you may bring your own. To enter, register at the Parks Office, 200 N. 12th Street, by 5 pm on Thursday, April 25th. Saturday, April 27 - Community Care Club's Giant Garage Sale Fundraiser from 8 am to 2:30 pm at the Fire Station, just north of Shell station on FM 416, 12 miles east of Streetman. Saturday, May 4 - Opening day for the Farmers Market, next to the Corsicana Daily Sun building, off of Business 45, at the foot of the overpass, under the pavilion. The market will be open on Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 7-noon. Please support our local farmers!

Saturday, May 4 - Second Annual Denim And Diamonds Gala, presented by Community National Bank and Trust, at the Cook Education Center at 6 pm. Attire will be "Cowboy Chic" (jeans, boots, skirts, etc,). Dinner includes steak, potatoes, salad, and desserts. Entertainment by Ira Bradford and Bustin' Loose. Saturday, May 11 - 21st Annual Corsicana AirSho at the Corsicana Municipal Airport. Gates open at 8 am. See WWII planes, Warbirds, precision flight teams, and aerobatics events. There will be pyrotechnics, exibits, rides, food and drinks. Admission is $10 per person or $20 per carload. Free admission to all veterans, military families, and their families. Presented by the Coyote Squadron Unit of the Commerative Air Force.

Saturday, May 11 - Mimosas in the Market, in downtown Corsicana, from 10 am to 3 pm. Sip, shop, and stroll with free Mimosas from local shop owners.

Saturday, May 11 - Oakwood Odyssey at Oakwood Cemetery. The first tour will start at 5:30 pm and the last tour will start at 7:30 pm. There will be four tours per hour. The focus this year will be the Great War through the Roaring ‘20s. Actors will portray Corsicana residents from the past. Tickets are $10. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. Saturday, May 25 - 7th Annual Red Brick Classic Car & Motorcycle Show and Fish Fry. Poker Run at 9 am. Fried fish dinner inside the KESA Building from 11 am to 1 pm. DJ music all day and live music from 11 am to 12 pm. There will be a 50/50 jar and a raffle for a rifle. All proceeds benefit the Kerens Veterans Memorial.

Wednesday, May 29 - Opening day for City of Corsicana Park Pools. Jester Park Pool hours: Wednesday through Saturday from 1 to 6 pm, Sundays 1-5 pm. Entry fee is $3. Bunert Park Pool hours: Wednesday through Saturday from 1-6 pm, Sundays 1-6 pm. Entry fee is $2. Saturday, June 1 - The 29th Annual City and County Clean Up Day. The landfill will be open and disposal for city and county residents will be at no cost from 7 am to 1 pm. This is a joint event sponsored by the City and County. In case of rain, it will be delayed uhtil Saturday, June 8. E-Waste and Tire Day will be scheduled for September.

If you have an unserviceable US, state, M.I.A., or military flag, bring it to the American Legion, 632 N. Beaton St. If the post is closed, you can place the flag in a plastic bag and hang it on the front door. After 2 pm daily, bring it inside. If you can not afford a new US flag, the American Legion will replace your unserviceable US flag with a new US Flag. Meals on Wheels needs your GROCERY BAGS! Please deliver plastic grocery bags to their office at 1805 N. Beaton Street between 8:30 am and 1:30 pm Monday - Friday.

Meals on Wheels Program is in need of volunteers Monday - Friday for meal deliveries. Each delivery route takes about an hour and is typically delivered between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm every day. Honor Flight DFW is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that is committed to flying veterans, at no cost to the veteran, round trip to Washington, DC with a one night stay, to see the WW II Memorial and other monuments in the Washington area. They will fly any veteran of a War era since WW II, but priority is for WW II and terminally ill veterans. They have a "guardian" assigned to each veteran to assist him or her during the trip and a volunteer medical staff for each flight. Honor Flight DFW pays for the cost for the veteran and all others pay their own expenses. For more information about this organization and flight schedules, go to their website www.honorflightdfw.org. This is one way for us to honor our veterans while we still have them around.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment for a felony crime. Call Crime Stoppers tip line (903) 874-TIPS (8477) with the information. Angus Crime Watch meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month at the Angus Government Center.

Grandparents Raising Grandkids Support Group will meet at FBC Eureka at 8718 S Hwy 287 Eureka Tx the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The purpose of this group is to provide support, and encouragement, as well as offer helpful and informative information with occasional speakers coming in. The Corsicana Animal Shelter is in need of dog food, such as Pedigree (adult and small breed), Kibbles N Bits Original Flavor (adult and small breed, small bites), and Purina Smart Blend dog food. Donations can be dropped off at the shelter during regular operating hours: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 12 to 6 pm, and on Saturdays from 12 until 4 pm.

Tehuacana Baptist Church in Limestone county sponsors a Gospel/Bluegrass/Country music night the second Friday of each month starting at approximately 6 pm., and goes until the last singer gives up and goes home (about 10 pm). We have an open mic, and anyone that can sing, or think they can sing or play, or just want to enjoy the music, are welcome to come and join us. Just bring those old phones by their office on Bus. 45 across from the old hat factory any morning from 9-11 M-F or drop them off at Corley Funeral Home. The phones will be bundled and forwarded them to a company that refurbishes them and sends then to the troops to use.
