Saturday, May 26 - Kerens Veterans Day Program presents the Red Brick Classic Car Show and Fish Fry. Free admission. The car show registration is $15, and will be from 9 am to noon, with awards presented at 1:30 pm. The Fish Fry will be from 11 am to 1 pm, for $10 a plate.

Friday, June 1 and Saturday, 2 - Unity Cancer Ministry will have a BBQ sandwich, chips, cookie and drink for $8. June 1st and 2nd, they will also be selling homemade items like quilts, wood products, and cakes at Unity Baptist Church, 101 S 30th Street, from 9am - 2 pm. All proceeds will go into Joy Bags for new cancer patients here in Corsicana and surrounding areas.

Saturday, June 2 - 27th Annual Cleanup Day, presented by Navarro County and the City of Corsicana at the Corsicana Regional Landfill at Jester Road and Highway 31. Approved items you can dispose of include large appliances, furniture, entertainment equipment, agricultural pesticide containers that have been triple rinsed and punctured, daily household garbage, and brush/limbs. All loads must be tarped and firmly secured to trucks and trailers according to TCEQ regulations. Assistance will be available to unload your items. Volunteers will be available to take items to the landfill for elderly and disabled residents in the Corsicana area. For this assistance, you must call 903-654-3075 by 5 pm on Thursday, May 31st. Tires will not be accepted on this day. Tire collection day will be September 7th at the Navarro Expo Center.

Saturday, June 2 - Back the Blue Car Show from 10 am to 3 pm at the Tiger Tote on West Highway 31 (Seventh Ave.), across from Atwoods. Proceeds will benefit the Brent Thompson Navarro County Fallen Officers Fund and The Corsicana Police Officers Association.

Meals on Wheels Program is in need of volunteers Monday - Friday for meal deliveries. Each delivery route takes about an hour and is typically delivered between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm every day. Honor Flight DFW is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that is committed to flying veterans, at no cost to the veteran, round trip to Washington, DC with a one night stay, to see the WW II Memorial and other monuments in the Washington area. They will fly any veteran of a War era since WW II, but priority is for WW II and terminally ill veterans. They have a "guardian" assigned to each veteran to assist him or her during the trip and a volunteer medical staff for each flight. Honor Flight DFW pays for the cost for the veteran and all others pay their own expenses. For more information about this organization and flight schedules, go to their website www.honorflightdfw.org. This is one way for us to honor our veterans while we still have them around.

Angus Crime Watch meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month at the Angus Government Center.

Grandparents Raising Grandkids Support Group will meet at FBC Eureka at 8718 S Hwy 287 Eureka Tx the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The purpose of this group is to provide support, and encouragement, as well as offer helpful and informative information with occasional speakers coming in. Please let us know if you will need to bring children with you so our child care volunteer can be prepared. The Corsicana Animal Shelter is in need of dog food, such as Pedigree (adult and small breed), Kibbles N Bits Original Flavor (adult and small breed, small bites), and Purina Smart Blend dog food. Donations can be dropped off at the shelter during regular operating hours: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 12 to 6 pm, and on Saturdays from 12 until 4 pm.

Tehuacana Baptist Church in Limestone county sponsors a Gospel/Bluegrass/Country music night the second Friday of each month starting at approximately 6 pm., and goes until the last singer gives up and goes home (about 10 pm). We have an open mic, and anyone that can sing, or think they can sing or play, or just want to enjoy the music, are welcome to come and join us. Have an old cell phone or phones cluttering up their home? The Angels of Corsicana Troop Support has the answer. Just bring those old phones by their office on Bus. 45 across from the old hat factory any morning from 9-11 M-F or drop them off at Corley Funeral Home. The phones will be bundled and forwarded them to a company that refurbishes them and sends then to the troops to use.
