CORSICANA CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY, CHRISTMAS PARADE CANCELED DUE TO INCREASE IN COVID-19 CASES2020-11-17

The increase in COVID-19 cases has prompted the city of Corsicana to announce today it has canceled this Friday`s annual tree lighting ceremony and the Dec. 5 Christmas parade.

In a statement, the city said due to the recent increase of cases in Navarro County, and out of an abundance of caution, they decided to cancel the ceremonies. The city added they wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a better new year.

Also on the cancelled list the planned dedication of the Gold Star Family memomrial that was scheduled for next Monday, Nov. 23. Organizer Bill McNutt said they would be rescheduling the event for spring of 2021, hopefully to coincide with the 2021 Texas Veterans Parade.

The Small Business Saturday event scheduled for Nov. 28 and the Second Saturday Mimosas at the Market event scheduled for Dec. 12 are still scheduled to take place.
