A scholarship is being created in honor and memory of Dr. Ray D. Carroll who practiced veterinary medicine in Navarro County for five decades.
The goal of the scholarship committee is to create an endowment so that the scholarship may be given each year to a youth in Navarro County for many years to come. Dr. Carroll was a mentor and inspiration to many youth and adults over his long career.
A pen of commercial heifers, donated by area beef producers, will be auctioned off at the Youth Expo during the sale, Saturday, March 30.
The proceeds will be added to the scholarship fund.
Anyone interested in donating a heifer for the sale are asked to contact Elbert Butler or Mike Gage. Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation may do so at Community National Bank where a fund has been established.
