The United Way celebrated meeting its annual campaign goal of $365,000
on May 9 at Mita`s Coffee Lab, honoring donors and companies for
their successful campaigns. United Way workplace campaigns are unique
to the organization. United Way partners with companies to hold
employee giving drives. They always stress that a little goes a long way.
An individual might not be able to write a large check or even know
where to give because there is so much need in the community.
Lloyd Huffman was named recipient of the Jane Biltz Volunteer of the
Year award, an award presented by Jane Biltz herself each year.
The recipient of this prestigious award is an individual in our community
who serves our county through a multitude of avenues. Huffman was
instrumental in the restoration of the Palace Theater. He continues to
serve the Palace and work quietly behind the scenes in our community.
He has served on the Navarro College Board of Trustees for many years.
Lloyd would never want any recognition which is why recognizing him
is so important. Lloyd has also operated the Corsicana Weather Radar site
since its inception, keeping watch on the community in times of severe
weather. Lloyd is a champion for Navarro County, and his work
might go unnoticed if not for the volunteers who have worked beside
and witnessed his heart for our community.
Pat Ann Wilson was acknowledged for her service as the 2016-2017
board president. Pat Ann is another who does not seek recognition, but
she serves on many boards in this community and truly has a heart for
the organizations she joins. Pat Ann is a doer. She is the type of board
member who Directors rely on. You know she will help, volunteer, and
give in any way. She has been instrumental in the success of the 2017
Campaign, and United Way of Navarro County could not be more
honored to know and work beside her. She doesn`t just serve on a board,
she invests in it. She sees not only the task at hand, but looks at what
more the United Way could be. Congratulations to Pat Ann on term
